Choosing a child care center for your family? Read the Parent Testimonials!
At the Big Barn Preschool, we work hard to create the type of early childhood education your child deserves! And we know reading actual parent testimonials help you gain a better insight into all the benefits of our child care center. Below are just some of the wonderful letters we have received from happy parents. Thank You!
Last May I got a new job and needed to find a preschool for my son last minute and everywhere I looked was full and had no room for his age group until later in the summer. Ms. Bonnie accepted our son immediately and I was very happy with the information regarding the schools teachings and methods.
Since our son has been attending Big Barn Preschool, he has learned and grown so much. There are zero screens, which is appreciated and gives our son more opportunities to learn through interactions with others and classroom education. They try to make sure the children are outside, weather permitting, everyday in each season, which also enhances learning.
Each year there are 2 performances and the children all memorize songs, which they do all in accapella. The performances are reflective of how much they are learning naturally at Big Barn. My son comes home singing new songs he learns every week from his class. He really likes going to school and the smaller ratios give each child a more individualized chance to get the most out of their education.

I am writing a review for Big Barn Preschool. My daughter, Lily, has attended Big Barn Preschool since she was three years old. Lily will be attending Kindergarten in the Fall and will be moving on from the only school that she has known. Big Barn has been the most nurturing and caring learning community for Lily. She has thrived at Big Barn and grown into a smart, caring and confident five year old young lady. The staff at Big Barn are family to both of us. When I drop Lily off at school, or camp, each morning I am confident that Lily is in the best hands possible. Not only is the staff knowledgeable, friendly and approachable, but the many friends Lily has made have contributed to Lily’s success in her learning community. Thank you Big Barn Preschool! You will be missed!

Our three-year-old son just finished his first year at Big Barn and we have been so pleased with his progress there. He was a late talker and spoke very little when he started but has progressed leaps and bounds this year. Big Barn has contributed greatly to his growth and we are excited for another year! The teachers do such a great job of balancing structure with fun and best of all they teach. We were looking for a preschool, not just a daycare and Big Barn has been everything we hoped for. They not only teach academic basics but good manners, good attitude, and independence. Thank you!

My son just started kindergarten. It’s been one week. His teacher saw us playing outside after school and came up to me to tell me she was AMAZED at Royce’s reading skills. She asked if he had any pre-school care and of course I told her about Big Barn and how their curriculum was extremely impressive! Thank you, Big Barn!

Our 4 ½ year old daughter, Brianna has been attending the Big Barn Preschool for almost a year now. Brianna absolutely loves the teachers and students at the school and often does not want to leave when we come pick her up each day. She is always asking for 5 more minutes.
We love everything about Big Barn Preschool. Bonnie and her teaching staff are all awesome and interact really well with the children. During the school year they constantly teach a wide variety of different subjects and my daughter has learned a lot and improved a lot since she started last Fall. (She was previously at a home daycare.) During the Summer, they have different fun activities indoors and out, and different themes. They are able to play outside in the school playground and run in the sprinkler.
What makes Big Barn Preschool “Go above and beyond?” They have excellent days / hours and our daughter is able to attend preschool and daycare all at one place (all day long) and she does not have to be transported back and forth anywhere. They have approximately 4 teachers and 24 children or so and there are no older kids there. They are able to make close friendships and the parents also are able to meet other parents at the family nights, the Winter Holiday program, and Graduation ceremony.
I like that they do not have electronics there for the children. My daughter is on the I-Pad at home all the time and I really like that at school she participates in regular (non-electronic) activities throughout the day (reading / puzzles / coloring / painting etc…) She often comes home all excited about the book they read at school that day.
Big Barn Preschool also goes year-round and only takes a few days off for Summer / Fall transition cleaning and the rest of the holidays are the same holidays we get off at work already. They offer refunds if your child is sick with a qualifying doctor’s note. The rates are reasonable. Field trips are always fun and they are brought to the school (so they don’t have to go out anywhere). They have also brought in professionals to do school photos, vision checks, hearing checks, dentists, etc. They have a catering service to provide snacks and meals. The building itself is quite unique and fun and looks recently remodeled on the inside.

I cannot recommend The Big Barn Preschool enough. Not only is the staff highly qualified and extremely professional, they have been very kind, warm and patient towards my daughter. The school is very flexible on accommodating the schedule you need and the cost is extremely competitive for this area. It was the only school I found in the area that would allow us to attend 3 full days a week and just pay for those days.
We began The Big Barn Preschool in January of 2016. It was a whirlwind of events for my daughter as we had just moved from Omaha to Chicago at the end of December. Not only did she have to leave behind her self-designed pink room, friends and preschool, my husband had to stay back and his degree. Mrs. Bonnie and her wonderful staff helped this transition immensely.
Her teacher this year was Mr. Brian and to be honest we were shocked how much she picked up during half of a school year. At the end of the year teacher-parent conference we could have not been more pleased with her accomplishments. She will attend for one more year before starting Kindergarten and it is exciting to think about how much she will grow and learn under the care of Mrs. Bonnie and her staff!

My family moved to Schaumburg in the Spring of 2015. Buying a new home in a new town was something that scared us to pieces. We heard that Schaumburg had great school systems and that it was a remarkable place to raise a family. After countless searches for preschools in the Schaumburg area we came across The Big Barn Preschool. The reviews online seemed reputable and we liked that many parents seemed to trust the teachers. Shortly after reading that my husband and I arranged a visit to come and look at the school.
So now, let’s fast forward a year. Paytin has completed her first year of preschool and is now attending summer camp at the Big Barn. Paytin has learned so much in just a years’ time that we just can’t believe how much she has advanced. Every day she comes home with a new art project and can’t wait to tell us what she did at school. Her vocabulary and speech has increased tremendously. She has been exposed to number counting, reading and writing, letters and their sounds, child responsibilities, singing/dancing, learning to be kind to others and so much more. The Big Barn teachers have really done wonders with these children and I would recommend sending any child to their school.
On a separate note, it’s such a great feeling knowing when parents have to go to work that their child is being taken care of in the best way possible. Not only do we trust the teachers at Big Barn but we know that our child just adores them as well.

Our son started day care last year when he was two years old, after being home with his aunt full-time. We enjoyed the social interactions he was getting and the friends he was making, however, we felt like something was missing. At times our son would say he didn’t want to go to “school” and most days when my husband or I would pick him up the teachers seemed at the end of their ropes with the large number of kids in the class. This definitely didn’t settle well with us so we started looking for a preschool that would meet our needs since our son had just turned three.
After doing some research online, Big Barn Preschool REALLY stood out to us! First off they offer both half day and full day programs, which is great for working parents as most preschools are only half days. They also aren’t part of a chain day care/preschool center (e.g. KinderCare, Bright Horizons, etc.), which having a background in Child Development, is a plus for me. Large day care/preschool chain centers can at times focus more on the business aspect which takes away from the most important thing of all, the children and fostering their development.
Big Barn Preschool has their own curriculum which is based on child development theory and scientific research done by Erikson, Piaget and Vygotsky, each highly accredited in the psychology field. The curriculum places an importance on developing the child as a whole while incorporating early academic skills to ensure children are prepared with the knowledge and skills needed for kindergarten. It is also individualized so each child goes at their own pace, which is so important as no child is the same!
Additionally, Big Barn Preschool has that homey feel. You see the same staff and families/children every day, which is comforting as you develop relationships and can trust your child is in good hands. Lastly, every staff member has many years of experience working with children, which is refreshing as you typically run into less experience staff at other centers.
Although my son has only been at Big Barn Preschool for just over a month, I concluded all of this very quickly. My husband and I are so happy we decided to make a change as we almost immediately saw a change in our son too. He ALWAYS wants to go to school and it seems like every day he learned something new or is bringing home something fun to show us that he worked on. All of this is why I’m so happy we found Big Barn Preschool and I recommend it to anyone looking for a program for their child!

Big Barn Preschool has been the best experience for our family. The teachers are phenomenal! My daughters have learned things I did not expect them to learn at their age, things that are difficult for me to teach them at home. They excel at school. The teachers are compassionate, loving, caring, determined, and wonderful at teaching them their independence.
We were debating on changing schools because my oldest daughter was starting kindergarten and because we moved. I am so pleased we kept her at Big Barn Preschool for kindergarten. She was very quiet and shy and this year she has improved so much! They are both excited to learn, do their homework, and to tell me about their day. I would encourage any parent who is looking for a wonderful preschool to use Big Barn Preschool.

My child has been attending for 2 years and I can’t say enough positive comments about the Big Barn Preschool. The teachers are wonderful, great curriculum and program. The kids that attend are very sweet and you feel very safe about the environment. Highly recommend!

My husband and I decided to enroll our 3 year daughter in The Big Barn Preschool this past January. We chose this establishment based on its small and nurturing environment. Being that this was our daughter’s first time away from family, we knew we needed to find a school that had warm staff members to help our daughter in her transition. This school is an EXCELLENT school for first time students and parents. We were debating on changing schools because my oldest daughter was starting kindergarten and because we moved.
